US unemployment unchanged at 7.6% in June
According to the latest data released, the unemployment rate in the US has remained unchanged at 7.6 per cent during the month of June from May.
Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed that a total of nineteen states had lower unemployment rate that the national average while nine states and the District of Columbia had a higher unemployment rate during the month. Meanwhile, the unemployment rose in half of the states, fell only in 11 states and remained unchanged in 11 states and the District of Columbia.
Nevada yet against recorded the highest level of unemployment rate in the country at 9.6 per cent and North Dakota recorded the lowest level of unemployment at 3.1 per cent. The data showed that 37 states and the District of Columbia showed lower unemployment rate compared to the same month in the previous year indicating an improvement in the jobs market in the US.
California emerged as the leader in monthly job growth at 30,200 jobs in June while Pennsylvania was ranked second with 19,100 new jobs during the month. On the other hand, Tennessee had 16,500 lesser jobs and West Virginia recorded 5,000 fewer jobs in June than May.
