U.S. Navy selects Lockheed Martin to compete for task orders
According to the official reports, the U. S. Navy selected Lockheed Martin to compete for task orders supporting command-and-control computing network systems for ships and submarines.
It was also reported that U. S. defense company Lockheed Martin will compete for contracts from the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command worth $502 million to all the companies selected for the contract vehicle.
The task orders under the contract vehicle are designed to provide ships and submarines with network support ahead of the Navy's transition to the next-generation Consolidated Afloat Network Enterprise Services program.
The report further noted that the indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract vehicle, referred to as the Common Afloat Local Area Network Infrastructure task orders include network logistics support, configuration, testing and evaluation among other requirements.
Its will partner with Epsilon Systems, System Technology Institute, and BlueTech on the task orders, says Lockheed Martin.
John Nikolai, Lockheed Martin Undersea Systems Communications and Workstations director, said in a statement, "We have a demonstrated track record of providing the low-risk, best-value computing and network solutions to SPAWAR, while our experience partnering with small businesses helps us offer the Navy solutions that are flexible and affordable."
