US Judges ask Apple to shorten request for information from Motorola

US Judges ask Apple to shorten request for information from MotorolaA US Circuit Judge has asked technology giant, Apple to shorten its request of information on Google's acquisition of Motorola Mobility and the development of Android and described its request as too vague.

Judge Richard A. Posner had allowed Apple earlier this month to obtain information from Google and Motorola about their merger and other information on the development on the Android platform.

Apple has claimed that the information related to Android and Motorola acquisition is very relevant to Apple's claims and defenses in its lawsuits against Motorola. According to a new report, Judge Posner has said that the request from Apple cannot be accepted because it wasn't specific enough.

"The motion is vague and overbroad and Motorola's objections are persuasive," wrote Judge Posner.

Apple has said that Motorola has not complied with its original request for information. However, Motorola has sent an email to Apple with its objections to the scope of information requested by the company on the matter.

"If Apple desires a further court order compelling production of data within the scope of the March 5 order, it will have to narrow its request to a manageable and particularized set of documents," the judge ruled.
