US Embassy angrily reacts to Pakistan Interior Minister's remarks
Islamabad, March 3: The US Embassy has described as 'untrue' recent claims made by Pakistan's Interior Minister Hamid Nawaz that “the US, India and Afghanistan' are involved in suicide attacks in Pakistan.
"US Ambassador to Pakistan Anne W. Patterson telephoned Nawaz to express her grave concern over his remarks made in a television interview," the Embassy said in a statement.
Nawaz reportedly told an Arab TV channel that the US is among other foreign countries behind the blasts.
In his interview with an Arab television channel, Hamid Nawaz had said that the US, India and Afghanistan were involved in creating lawlessness in Pakistan and that it was believed that US and Afghanistan were backing militant outfits involved in terrorism in Pakistan.
Although India and Afghanistan have been blamed in the past for problems in Pakistan, it is for the first time that a government minister has directly pointed finger at the US for lawlessness in Pakistan.
He reportedly said that situation is improving in Afghanistan, but Pakistan is under the grip of violence. (ANI)
