U.S. economy is back on track- says Romer
The White House's Chief Economist Christina Romer has said that the US economy is back on the track after a miserable recession and financial crisis. This was the worst ever recession since 1930's.
But now the nation's economy is gaining momentum and is expected to come out of all difficulties. As per Romer, certain challenges are still there in front of the country.
The major issue is the unemployment rate in the country. In US, it was found out to be 9.7% for the current year according to the recent survey. This suggests that around 6.5 million workers have no job to do for the last 26 weeks. This was the 44% of the total unemployed in the country.
Romer has also informed that the long term unemployment has evolved as a serious threat to the economy. It will be even worse when the economy is producing less than that of the capacity. She has added that the jobs in manufacturing sector need to enhance so that the employment rate among the less-educated middle-class workers can be diminished.
