US court finds Dr Aafia guilty of attacking US Army
New York, Sept 3 : The US court trying Pakistani-American doctor Aafia Siddiqui has held her guilty on charges to attack US army in Afghanistan as a member of international terror organization Al-Qaeda.
According to a statement released from the US court, Aafia has also been charged with attempt to murder, triggering terrorism, armed attacks on US forces in Afghanistan and keeping illegal armaments.
Following the conviction, she might have to undergo life imprisonment, 20 years imprisonment and eight years imprisonment for each charges respectively in case the charges leveled against her proved right in the court, reported The News.
Dr Aafia, a neuroscientist, was held in Afghanistan in July while moving in suspicious circumstances. During interrogation by the US and Afghan officials, she allegedly tried to fire at the officials, but before that she was overpowered.
Later, she was transferred to Washington for trial. (ANI)
