U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalls Colleen Karis chair and ottoman

U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalls Colleen Karis chair and ottoman A voluntary recall of Colleen Karis basketball-shaped furniture was announced by the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission due to high levels of lead paint.

It has been reported that about 380 chair and ottoman sets were imported from China by Colleen Karis Designs LLC of Los Angeles, Calif., and sold nationwide from February 2009 through April 2010 for about $50 each.

The chair is made of vinyl and colored and shaped like a basketball with a matching ottoman.

With black stripes similar to a basketball, the chair and ottoman are a mottled brown color.

The surface paint on the lettering for the chairs contains levels of lead that exceed federal standards, the commission has said.

According the officials, consumers were advised to take the chair and ottoman from children and return them to Colleen Karis Designs for a full refund. (With Inputs from Agencies)
