US authorities investigating violation of visa rules by InfosysIndia software major, Infosys Ltd. Has said that it has been informed by the authorities in the US that some of the company employees are subjects of investigations into flaunting of US visa rules by the Indian firm.

U. S. Attorney's Office for the eastern district of Texas is investigating the firm after it received a subpoena following a lawsuit against the company by an employee. The suit alleged that the company was using short-term business visit visas instead of expensive work visas that are meant for high-skilled labor.

Jack Palmer, a principal consultant at Infosys, has filed a lawsuit against the company in the Alabama state court. The suit was later moved to the federal court and resulted in a probe by a U. S. Senate subcommittee into the visa practices by Indian firms.

Infosys has said earlier that it has received a subpoena from the grand jury in the U. S. district court for Texas. The subpoena asked the company to submit documents and records related to its sponsorship for obtaining B1 business visas.

"We are complying with the subpoena," Infosys said in a filing with the U. S. exchanges.
