Uninterrupted supply of petro products to flood-hit states
New Delhi, Oct 5 : Petroleum Minister Murli Deora has directed all state oil marketing companies to maintain the supply of petroleum products to the flood affected regions of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
A press release issued by the ministry Monday said that Deora took a review meeting of the companies and asked them to put "extra efforts so that uninterrupted supplies reach the relief camps set up in the areas."
The oil companies informed the minister that their marketing network was already on high alert, with district level coordinators in various states in touch with the state governments.
"The minister also asked oil companies to undertake relief and rehabilitation as part of their corporate social responsibility programme in keeping with the past traditions," said the release.
The minister underlined the need for gearing up to make additional supplies of petroleum products to these areas as and when the requests are received from the state government.(IANS)
