San Antonio announced on Tuesday that ride-sharing company Uber cannot operate in the city. But, the neighboring towns of the second most populous city in the state of Texas said that they want the company provide its ridesharing services in their cities.

Earlier this month, San Antonio officials signed off a rule which requires drivers to have permission to operate in Alamo city. According to reports, if a driver picks up a passenger in nearby cities, the Uber driver will not be able to use streets of San Antonio to reach at the destination.

While San Antonio has decided not to allow Uber operate in the city, mayors of Alamo Heights, Windcrest, Terrell Hills and Olmos Park are working to keep the company in business. On Wednesday, an announcement could be made regarding ride sharing companies operation in the cities. The announcement will state that the cities have planned to work on keeping companies like Uber and Lyft in ride-sharing business.

Windcrest Council members could vote on a resolution on Wednesday night. The move by mayors of Alamo Heights, Olmos Park, Terrell Hills and Windcrest came when Uber revealed its plan to leave San Antonio if a revised ordinance impacting ride-sharing companies was not cancelled.

On Wednesday, the Windcrest City Council will vote on a resolution, and if approved, it will allow Uber and other ride-sharing companies to provide its services. As per the reports, Olmos Park and Terrell Hills city officials have planned to consider similar resolutions in April.

Earlier, City Council of San Antonio voted 8-2 to approve a number of changes to an ordinance that was approved in December. Uber spokeswoman Debbee Hancock said, "We will not be able to operate within San Antonio's city limits when this ordinance is implemented. The company does plan to exit the Alamo City, adding that the revised ordinance remains one of the most burdensome in the nation".
