UAE, Qatar sign MoU to increase flights between them

Qatar AirwaysWAM The United Arab Emirates represented by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Qatar to increase the number of flights between the two countries.

According to the MoU, Fly Dubai was appointed as the UAE national carrier along with Emirates, Etihad, Air Arabia and Rak Air as the UAE's national carriers while Qatar Airways was appointed as Qatar's national carrier.

The MoU also provides for operating an unlimited number of scheduled and unscheduled flights between Dubai and Qatar, 42 scheduled flights between Abu Dhabi and Doha, 10 scheduled flights between Sharjah and Doha and 7 scheduled flights between Ras Al Khaima and Qatar.

The two sides may operate cargo scheduled flights of any aircrafts, said the MoU.

The signing ceremony was attended by Director General of the Department of Civil Aviation in Dubai, Mohammed Al Ahli, Chairman of Department of Civil Aviation in Sharjah Sheikh Essam Al Qassimi, Director General of Department of Civil Aviation in Ras Al Khaima Saeed Al Madhani, and head of the Department of International Affairs in Abu Dhabi Department of Transport Ghalib Al Soloh.(WAM/MMYS)
