Twitter adds “Share this tweet via email” feature to its website interface
Close on the heels of Facebook's announcement of a new mobile share button, popular microblogging service Twitter has announced the addition of a new email feature - dubbed "Share this tweet via email" - to its website interface.
The new "Share this tweet via email" feature will facilitate Twitter users in sharing their favorite tweets through email; thereby making it possible for them to pass on their most-liked Twitter content to friends who still use the email for electronic communication.
The "Share this tweet via email" option - which Twitter will start rolling out in the coming weeks - will essentially be a button that appears in `More' menu, by the side of reply, favorite, and retweet buttons. Twitter believes that the new feature underscores a powerful means for spreading its service, and will probably persuade new users to sign up.
Despite the fact that Twitter has already increased mainstream awareness of the service considerably over the past one year, with Tweet buttons now featuring all across the web, the company still wants new people to sign up, so that it can serve targeted ads to them.
Meanwhile, about the "Share this tweet via email" feature giving Twitter users the ability to e-mail tweets directly from the Twitter stream, Twitter's Stefan Filip said in a Thursday blog post: "You can email a Tweet to anyone, whether they use Twitter or not, right from your Twitter stream or from the details view of any Tweet."
