Travellers suffer delays in Kenya as strike hits airport Nairobi - ­ Hundreds of travellers faced delays in Kenya on Friday as Kenya Airways workers demanding a 130 per cent pay rise went on strike.

Kenya Airways flights from the busy regional hub at Nairobi suffered long delays as 3,000 employees refused to work. Only a handful out of dozens of flights had taken off by Friday afternoon.

Police arrested six leaders of the Aviation and Allied Workers Union for unlawful assembly. A court on Tuesday banned the strike.

Management have offered 13 per cent to the workers, saying the simply could not afford to meet the workers' demands.(dpa)
