Toyota replacing brake kits in Fortuner

FortunerAmidst the impeccable success that the SUV, Fortuner has been enjoying for the past many months, media reports claim that Toyota Kirloskar Motor Ltd (TKML) has admitted to replacing the brake kits in its bestselling sports utility vehicle (SUV) Fortuner, which was launched in August 2009.

It is believe that the company initiated this process after some of the consumers complained about the poor braking system that the product offers and the company is even now replacing the brake-kits on a case by case basis rather than announcing a recall in the domestic market. It is believed that almost 180 consumer have filed their complaints to the company after it launched the product.

Moreover, the lot that the company is dispatching since February 2010 is equipped with a new braking system. TKM's Deputy Managing Director, Sandeep Singh recently said that the braking system was replaced to give a better feeling of braking to the driver.

The quality of braking and the distance it takes for the car to stop remains the same as security concerns of the driver cannot be overlooked. However Singh also emphasized on the fact that there is no case of a recall in the Fortuner as the brakes are perfectly fine.
