Tokyo stocks open lower on Wall Street's declines
Tokyo - Tokyo market players dumped mainly export-oriented and financial issues Monday following the US market's declines before the weekend.
The Nikkei 225 Stock Average lost 162.27 points, or 1.16 per cent, to 13,779.81.
The broader Topix index of all first-section issues was also down 15.6 points, or 1.15 per cent, at 1,341.14.
On currency markets at 9 am (0000 GMT), the dollar was quoted at 107.35-38 yen, down from Friday's 5 pm quote of 107.69-71 yen.
The euro was quoted at 1.5597-5602 dollars, up from Friday's 5 pm quote of 1.5560-62 dollars, and at 167.53-56 yen, down from 167.57-61 yen. (dpa)
