Tokyo - Tokyo stocks opened slightly lower Wednesday on Wall Street's overnight losses.

The Nikkei 225 Stock Average dipped 26.82 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 8,782.48.

The broader Topix index of all first-section issues was also down 7.1 points, or 0.8 per cent, to 882.26.

On currency markets at 9 am (0000 GMT), the dollar was quoted at 97.27-32 yen, down from Tuesday's 5 pm quote of 97.64-65 yen.

The euro was quoted at 1.2510-15 dollars, down from Tuesday's 5 pm quote of 1.2727-29 dollars, and at 121.71-76 yen, down from 124.27-31 yen. (dpa)
