Tokyo stocks end morning flat ahead of key US economic data Tokyo  - Tokyo stocks ended Monday morning trading almost flat amid a wait-and-see mood ahead of the release of US key economic data.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average edged up 9.76 points, or 0.1 per cent, to 9,796.02.

The broader-based Topix index was also up 1.96 points, or 0.21 per cent, to 920.93.

Tokyo investors retreated to sidelines as they waited for key US economic data such as home sales and durable goods orders to be released later this week.

On the currency markets at 9 am (0000 GMT), the dollar traded at 96.07-12 yen, down from Friday's 5 pm quote of 96.81-84 yen.

The euro traded at 1.3935-40 dollars, up from late Friday's quote of 1.3932-35 dollars, and at 133.90-95 yen, down from 134.90-94 yen. (dpa)
