Tokyo stocks end higher on outlook of economic measures
Tokyo - Tokyo stocks ended Friday trading higher as investors remained positive about the outlook of a series of economic measures across the world.
The Nikkei 225 Stock Average gained 138.88 points, or 1.66 per cent, to close at 8,512.27.
The broader Topix index of all first-section issues was also up 5.79 points, or 0.7 per cent, at 834.82.
For the week, Nikkei rose 7.6 per cent, and Topix also went up 4 per cent.
On currency markets at midday (0300 GMT), the dollar was quoted at 95.20-25 yen, up from Thursday's 5 pm quote of 95.10-13 yen.
The euro was quoted at 1.2891-96 dollars, almost unchanged from Thursday's 5 pm quote of 1.2892-95 dollars, and at 122.76-81 yen, up from 122.63-67 yen. (dpa)
