Thai shares up almost 2.0 per cent on US optimism
Bangkok - Thai shares rose 1.99 per cent in value Monday on confidence that the scheduled US policy announcement on toxic assets will lead to a reinvestment in Asian stocks.
The stock Exchange of Thailand index ended at 438.17, up 8.53 points or 1.99 per cent.
"Tonight the US will announce its policy of toxic assets which should be good news for Asian stocks," said Chaiyodh Jiwangkul, an analyst at Atkinson Securities. "We're expecting investments to move out of gold and into stocks" he explained. (dpa)
