Textron Marine and Land Systems gets Iraqi police contract for armored vehicles
It has been reported that Textron Marine and Land Systems has received a foreign military sales award to provide the Iraqi Federal Police with armored vehicles in two variants.
The U. S. Army facilitated the foreign military sales contract awarded by the Iraqi Ministry of Interior. Under the approximately $94 million deal, Textron will deliver 72 of its armored personnel carriers.
Textron Marine and Land Systems General Manager Tom Walmsley said in a statement, "These vehicles will be a great addition to the significant number of Textron Marine and Land Systems armored vehicles already in use by the Iraqi Ministry of Interior"
It has also been reported that the Iraqi Ministry of Interior's order also includes delivery of eight M1117 armored security vehicles, a 4X4 wheeled armored vehicle that Textron says will be used as command-and-control vehicles by the Iraqi Federal Police.
The report further noted that both the armored personnel carriers and the armored security vehicles will be integrated with a grenade launcher and machine gun technologies. (With Inputs from Agencies)
