Tendulkar Backs Govt Decision To Call Off Pak Tour

Tendulkar Backs Govt Decision To Call Off Pak TourMaster batsman, Sachin Tendulkar today supported the government's decision to call off India's cricket tour to Pakistan, following the terror attacks in Mumbai last month.  Tendulkar, who is on vacation at the hill resort Mussorie, with wife Anjali and two children, appreciated the government's decision as the incident of the loss of lives was immensely painful and of greater importance than cricket. About 173 persons lost their lives in the terror strike in the country's financial capital.

Tendulkar made these remarks when asked about the cancellation of India's cricket tour, consequent to the Mumbai terror attacks.

He said that cricket should not be of any importance when the country has gone through incidents like the Mumbai carnage.

He further said, "Cancellation is a decision by the government and we respect that decision. The attack on Mumbai was very unfortunate; so many people lost their lives in it. This tragedy is far bigger than any cricket tour or sports. Those who have lost their loved ones can never be compensated."

Last Friday, India called off the month long cricket tour to Pakistan in January and February next year. During the tour, three test matches, five one dayers and a 20-20 match were scheduled to be played.
