Teens held responsible for ‘bullying death’ will miss their scheduled hearing
A court official has informed that three South Hadley, Mass., teens charged in the death of a classmate who hanged herself won't attend their arraignment hearings.
The Boston Herald reported that Clerk Harry Jekanowski Jr. said attorneys for Sean Mulveyhill, 17, Kayla Narey, 17, and Austin Renaud, 18, filed paperwork to have their clients skip their initial appearance before Superior Court Judge Judd Carheart, scheduled for Tuesday.
Jekanowski said, "None of the defendants would be appearing at this time."
It was further reported by the newspaper that three other defendants -- Ashley Longe, 16, Flannery Mullins, 16, and Sharon Chanon Velazquez, 16 -- are to be arraigned Thursday in Franklin/Hampshire Juvenile Court.
It was alleged by the authorities that the six teens, who face various charges, bullied 15-year-old Phoebe Prince physically and online to the point she couldn't stand to be tormented any longer and committed suicide in January. (With Inputs from Agencies)
