Intel and Yahoo are planning to make television more user friendly. Both have decided to add online capabilities into TV programs.Intel senior vice president Eric Kim said that they are working on "Widget Channel".
This channel will use computer programs for adding online features to television shows and advertising. Twitter, Toshiba, Samsung, eBay, CBS, Blockbuster, and Disney-ABC Television Group and some other companies are developing Widget for Yahoo and Intel.
Intel has developed “system on a chip” which will be used in electronic devices like set-top boxes and digital TVs. Yahoo will provide software support for the desktops and phones. Yahoo News, Yahoo Finance and Flickr will be provided by Yahoo’s Widget.
New York - A major shareholder in internet giant Yahoo Inc has requested a probe into the closely-watched re-election of chief executive Jerry Yang during last week's shareholders' meeting, US news reports said Tuesday.
The request follows speculation that Yang's share of the poll appeared higher than if votes had been cast as recommended prior to Friday's meeting, The Wall Street Journal reported in its Tuesday edition.
Yahoo however contended that independent shareholders had swayed the election in Yang's favour.

Yahoo executives tried to placate investors who were upset about the failed merger with Microsoft, saying the company acted in the interest of shareholders.
Yang, who was facing investors at his first annual meeting as CEO, has been under pressure after spurning a 47.5-billion-dollar buyout offer from Microsoft.
