INS Trishul to be affiliated with JAT Regiment

TrishulMumbai, Jan 22, : Indian Naval Ship Trishul, a state-of-the-art multi-role Stealth Frigate is now affiliated with one of the most decorated infantry regiments of the Indian Army, Jat Regiment.

Commanding Officer of INS Trishul, Captain Ajendra Bahadur Singh and Brigadier RK Sharma, Commandant of the JAT Regimental Centre, signed the agreement of Affiliation.

Rear Admiral Surinder Pal Singh Cheema, Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet and Lieutenant General BS Nagal, Colonel of the JAT Regiment were present during the occasion.

India successfully test fires land version of BrahMos missile on Tuesday

BrahMos New Delhi, Jan 20 : In a move to assure its accuracy for future battles, the Army, on Tuesday, tested the land-attack version of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile near Pokhran in Rajasthan.

The test was declared as successful, having met all the parameters.

Earlier, on December 18, an air-breathing missile, with a strike range of 290-km, was tested for the first time from a vertical launcher fitted on a moving warship in the Bay of Bengal.

The government inducted the first battery of the BrahMos land-attack cruise missile (LACM) in July 2007.

Software major Mindtree Limited posts 16.6 percent growth in Q3

Global IT company Mindtree LimitedBangalore, Jan. 19 : Global IT company Mindtree Limited announced its results today for the third quarter ended December 31, 2008 as approved by its Board of Directors.

The company announced that its software revenues had grown by 16.6 percent Quarter over Quarter (QoQ) and 93.4 percent Year over Year (YoY) to Rs 3,638 Million.

In rupee terms, EBITDA for the quarter was 30.5 percent against 27.8 percent in Q2 2008-09 and 16.8 percent in Q3 2007-08. This reflects a QoQ growth of 28 percent and a YoY growth of 251.6 percent, a company statement said.

Iron Man-style robotic suitLondon, January 16 : A team of Japanese researchers says that it has designed an Iron Man-style robotic suit that can give even the most infirm farmer new-found strength.

Project leader Shigeki Toyama, a robotics professor at The Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, describes the prototype robot suit as the latest technological advance designed to assist Japan''s rapidly ageing farmers.

"I have been working on this for about 10 years now because few young people want careers in agriculture now and older farmers need help to do their work," the Telegraph quoted him as saying.
