Gaming majors including Sony Ericsson, Zapak.com and Microsoft Xbox 360, on Thursday, have come together to launch World Gaming Day across the globe.

The World Gaming Day is scheduled to take place on 12th February 2009.

Indian market of late has become an important part of all tech majors so the three are pursuing this first of its kind global initiative from India.
 
With the aim to take gaming to a new height, the trio would jointly promote the initiative across media.

A high-end server chip, which is being considered as the world's first 2 billion transistor microprocessor, originally expected as earlier as in year 2007, has been delayed by Intel.

It has been learnt that basically, Tukwila is a quad-core update to the Itanium processor that has had a less-than-promising run since the time the original version was announced back in 2001.

A statement issued by Intel specified on Thursday, "Intel has made some engineering enhancements to the Tukwila platform."

Four security updates, including two that would critically affecting Windows, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Exchange Server would be released by Microsoft on Tuesday. The company announced this on Thursday.

According to the company, "The critical updates affect Windows Internet Explorer 7, Windows XP Professional Edition, Windows Vista, Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, Exchange Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2007."

Jajah, a well known internet phone company, has added the capability to turn the iPod Touch into an iPhone.

The announcement was made on Thursday by the company that also with other low-cost Internet calling applications such as Skype. In its announcement, Jajah said that Touch users would be allowed to call and text messages using a voice over IP network via a new application instead of a carrier's cellular network.

Jajah application, the latest version of the iPod Touch, a microphone headset, and a Wi-Fi connection is all that is needed to start making calls.

The rumors are floating all around as of now is that Microsoft will release its own smartphones. It is being predicted by one analyst that the device may be revealed at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in two weeks.

In a report written by Doug Freedman of Broadpoint AmTech on Thursday, confirmed, "The Microsoft-branded phone may include Nvidia's Tegra processor and a telecommunications baseband chip from Qualcomm."

It was informed by online DVD Company Netflix on Thursday that past three months have seen one million Microsoft Xbox 360 video game console users activating Netflix's movie streaming, since the two companies formed a partnership.

It was confirmed by Netflix that nearly 1.5 billion minutes of movies were watched by the Xbox LIVE community, who also viewed the TV episodes via its Watch Instantly video service. However, the company did not confirm as to how many subscribers it has actually gained from the partnership.
