New York: Palm Inc has launched its smallest smartphone, making its initial entry into the low end phone market in a bid to perk up growth plans, and provide a cheesier option to Apple Inc’s iPhone.

For its new “Centro,” a smaller and lighter edition of its Treo smartphone, Palm has determined the price of just $100 to attract more and more customers. Sprint Nextel Corp will sell ‘Centro’ for the rest of the year in the United States.

Microsoft said that Office 2008 for Mac Home and student version that comprises three licenses for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Entourage, an e-mail/calendar/contacts program, will be available at just $150.

To make a series of luxury mobile phones and LCD TVs, Giorgio Armani, the world famous designer has signed up a partnership deal with Samsung Electronics.

The pact that requires Giorgio to produce the designs, and Samsung to supply technical experience, was sealed off at the currently happening Women’s Fashion Week in Milan yesterday.
