Microsoft offers 500 MB Online Storage for Office Users
Microsoft Office users may be able to store up to 1000 documents online as Software major Microsoft announced its web application suite, Office Live. Mr. Jeff Raikes, Microsoft Business Division President announced that the users of Microsoft Office suite will be able to use Office Live Workspace to store and share documents online.
Users will be provided 500 MB of free space to store their documents. For additional 500 MB space, Microsoft will charge $ 19.95 per month. Office Live Workspace will not have option to create documents. It only offers the ability to save a document online using “Save As” command in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications.
In his statement, Jeff Raikes said, “Our approach is to give customers the choice, flexibility and power of both software plus services.”
Google also offers documents services with docs.google.com, a free service that offers users to store, share and collaborate with other users online. The service has been of great use for many users working on a same project.
The existing Microsoft Office Live service has been renamed as "Office Live Small Business" and some new options have been added.
