After the grand success of the Prada handset, LG Electronics has again joined hands with Prada Group to roll out the second LG Prada handset by the end of this year (2008). 

Knighted Prada II, which is almost similar to the earlier version, features a full metallic ‘QWERTY’ keyboard, which slides out from under the handset.

Along with on-screen call and hang-up buttons, Prada II comes packed with astounding functions such as 3G compatibility with video calling and 7.2Mbps HSDPA, full HTML browser, 5 megapixel camera with Schneider-Kreuznach certified lens, video calling and WiFi accessibility.

San Francisco - Global computer sales from July to September grew 15 per cent from 2007, but tougher economic conditions around the world meant that many of the 80.6 million devices sold were less expensive notebooks, according to research issued Tuesday by Gartner.

Growth was slowest in the United States, where sales increased 4.8 per cent from the third quarter of 2007.

"The US home market saw definite softness," said Gartner analyst Mika Kitagawa, while the Asia Pacific region was impacted by slowing PC sales in China. "The global PC market finally felt the impact from global economic downturn."

San Francisco - The internet giant Google is to appeal two German court decisions that found it violated copyright law by showing thumbnails of works by two artists in search results, PC World reported Tuesday.

The cases involved Google's Image Search feature in its search engine. The courts ruled that showing thumbnails of the images in its results list was a violation of copyright laws.

San Francisco - Apple unveiled a new line of Macbook laptop computers Tuesday, bringing prices down at the same time as improving function and design.

The two most prominent new features of the new line-up are powerful new graphics capabilities provided by Nvidia chips that replace integrated Intel graphics chips that were used previously. Apple CEO Steve Jobs said the new chips improved graphics performance by a factor of five.

Jobs also touted a new manufacturing process that allows the laptop cases to be made from a single block of aluminium.

Washington, Oct 14 : New images from NASA’s Cassini spacecraft have revealed a giant cyclone at Saturn’s north pole, and show that a similarly monstrous cyclone churning at Saturn’s south pole is powered by Earth-like storm patterns.

The new-found cyclone at Saturn’s north pole is only visible in the near-infrared wavelengths because the north pole is in winter, thus in darkness to visible-light cameras.

Washington, Oct 14 : Observations by NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope and the computer simulations used to explain them, hint at weather patterns on distant planets that are truly alien to what are found on Earth.

Approximately 300 planets have been discovered around other stars, and for most of those planets, scientists know little more than the mass and orbital properties of the planet.

However, for a handful of the brightest planets, temperatures have been inferred from observations carried out with spacebased platforms such as NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope.
