Two weeks before, when 2Wire introduced its MediaPoint set-top box, it was reported that “It'll be a matter of weeks--if not days--before you see a yet-to-be-named service provider offering its own version of the MediaPoint, possibly at a sub-$100 price point.”

However, since that initial provider turns out to be Blockbuster Video, the curtain has been pulled back. The company’s version of the MediaPoint box is being offered for just $99, which includes a credit for 25 movies, for a limited period of time.

On Monday, Union Defence Minister A K Antony informed that within a few years, the Indian Navy will be equipped with the most modern technology and thus would become capable of meeting challenges in the Indian ocean and other far-flung areas better than so called advanced nations.

A unique way of saving electricity when charging an iPod has been discovered by Owen Louis, 21, by using an onion soaked in energy drink.

Louis, who is also a great music fan, evidently was worried since his Mp3 player was using quite a lot of electricity; so the Portsmouth resident decided to utilize vegetables in order to power up his device.  

The technique Louis used consisted of boring two holes in an onion, soaking it in an energy drink and sticking a USB cable into it. The method enabled him to charge his iPod for an hour.

Washington, November 26 : Australian researchers at the University of Melbourne say that the exponential growth of high speed broadband will create an energy bottleneck in the coming years.

Dr. Kerry Hinton, from the university’s Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and the ARC Special Centre for Ultra-Broadband Information Networks (CUBIN), claims to have identified the major contributors to Internet power consumption as the take-up of broadband services grows.

“It has now become clear that the exponential growth of the Internet is not sustainable,” said Dr. Hinton.

The threat comes from the growing number of people who dash to the internet as soon as they feel an unusual twinge, pain or anything else that could be a symptom of sickness.
