With taking a step forward in technology, a new electronic book reader will soon be introduced by Sony in U.S., which will add in the already existing range of the company’s E-book Reader. The new book reader comes with upgraded hardware and is expected to be available for sale in November.
Sony will have to change the batteries of their own VAIO line of notebooks, as they are giving troubles to the users. Just two years before, the company had to recall 4.1 million laptop batteries which were placed in Dell, Apple and Lenovo notebooks due to the same reasons.
The company will have to change the batteries of the VGN-TZ100, VGN-TZ200, and VGN-TZ300 and VGN-TZ2000 series, due to “irregularly positioned wires near the computer's hinge and/or dislodged screw inside the hinge,” as there is a risk of the batteries getting overheat and also short-circuit thus also resulting in fire. The incident was experienced by a user of VAIO, when she got her arm injured while using her VAIO laptop.
Japan's Sony Corp has made announcement that it’ll recall about 438,000 Vaio portable PCs affected by a potential risk, which is expected to cause them to overheat or even blaze the consumer.
This is one of the biggest computer recalls since 2006, the earlier one being by Dell Inc, when it called up its 4.1 million notebook batteries, which by chance also heated up and caused fires.
A company’s representative said that there are presently around 72,800 PCs in US alone awaiting recall.
Sony’s E-ink Reader, which has been priced at £199, has been decided to be sold at Waterstone in its 200 stores nationwide in two days.
This pocket sized and slim electronic device, which at present comes with only 200MB memory, could be expanded by 1000 in next few months. Presently the Sony Reader can store 160 average-sized books, with a 200GB hard drive. It can be however increased to 160,000.
This actually is equal to number of books the British Library adds to its collection every six months. Its battery presently in one charge can is more than enough to turn 6800 pages, and even it is being improved by the company.
