‘Google's G1 phone will kill-off the PC’, claim its designers

Google's G1 phoneLondon, Sept 27: Florian Seiche, HTC (High Tech Computers) chief, the designers of Google's G1 phone, has claimed that with its high-tech features, the new phone could make the personal computer obsolete.

Florian Seiche, whose company designed Google's answer to the iPhone, believes the personal computer will soon join the ‘dodo’.

Seiche insisted that the phone is set to transform the way we think about the internet, and could even kill off the PC.

Google’s founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin launched the G1 phone amid a frenzy of excitement in New York this week.

Nokia expands data services - beta version of Ovi.com

Espoo, Finland - Finnish cell phone maker Nokia is expanding its data services. The new version of its portal Ovi. com allows for synchronisation of appointments, contacts and notes, as well as photos and videos, between a PC and the Nokia cell phone.

It also allows users to use their cell phones to access data stored on a PC. Ovi. com is available in an official beta version, Nokia announced in Espoo. All services are free with the beta version, a corporate spokesman indicated.

Nokia is providing users with new services like Ovi Sync, the Nokia Ovi PC suite and Files on Ovi. The Nokia Ovi PC suite allows for files and information to be copied from a Nokia telephone to a computer, such as to store content.

Users simply install the device in the room they wish to monitor. If the motion sensor detects a disturbance, it sends a three-second video of the event to the owner's mobile phone.
