Team India leaves for 14-day Sri Lanka tour
Chennai, Jan. 26 : Indian Cricket team on Monday left on a 14-day tour to Sri Lanka to play a five day one-day international (ODI) series besides a Twenty-20 cricket match.
Team India is being led by master blaster Mahendra Singh Dhoni to play in the tour, which was arranged after India cancelled its visit to Pakistan in the wake of the November 26 Mumbai terror attacks last year.
The new face in the Indian cricket team, Ravindra Jadeja expressed hope that Indian team will be able to win the series beginning Jan. 28 and lasting till Feb. 10.
Talking to reporters at the international airport here, Jadeja said: "We will play together as a unit and surely win the series."
All rounder Jadeja has replaced the off-spinner Harbhajan Singh who will miss the upcoming series due to a hamstring injury.
The series may not be such an easy affair for the Team India, as the Sri Lankan team is riding high on confidence after clinching a recent series against Pakistan 2-1, causing Pakistan their heaviest defeat in an ODI at home by 234 runs in the last game of the series.
But India is confident due to its series of wins in the past one year against top teams such as Australia and England.
India toured Sri Lanka in July-August last year and had won the one-day series 3-2.. (ANI)
