Tata Motors global sales fell 13.9 percent in December

Tata Motors global sales fell 13.9 percent in DecemberIndian automaker, Tata Motors has said on Tuesday that its sales during the month of December fell 13.9 percent to 98,968 vehicles.

The lower-than-expected sales were recorded even as the company's Jaguar Land Rover said that its sales has risen 4.2 percent to 32,282 vehicles in the global markets. The company's cumulative wholesales rose 1.8 per cent to 881,009 during 2012 compared to the previous year.

The wholesales of all passenger vehicles worldwide fell 23.16 per cent to 46,925 units in December 2012 compared to the December of 2011. Cumulative wholesales of all passenger vehicles for the fiscal year were 444,769 units.

The total global wholesales of all commercial vehicles that includes vehicles Tata, Tata Daewoo and the Tata Hispano Carrocera range, recorded at 52,043 units in December 2012. Cumulative wholesales of all the commercial vehicles were recorded at were at 436,240 units for the fiscal year.

Experts say that the fall is mainly due to the poor performance by the company in the Indian market during the month of December. The stock hit a high of Rs 329.90 and a low of Rs 325.70 so far during the day. The company has an equity capital of Rs 637.95 crore.
