Berlin  - German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier is to meet Friday in London with ministers from the other five nations leading efforts to bring Iran's nuclear programme under international supervision, an aide said in Berlin.

The meeting with Chinese, French, British, Russian and US officials would be a debate on how the international community could establish a dialogue with Tehran and whether any conciliatory move could he made towards Iran, spokesman Andreas Peschke said.

Iran has rejected demands from the UN Security Council to suspend enrichment of uranium. The West fears that the uranium processing and nuclear research is not just aimed at generating electricity but also at building atom bombs.

The UN Security Council has passed three resolutions imposing sanctions on Iran. Negotiations are being conducted by the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany.

Peschke, the deputy Foreign Ministry spokesman, said Steinmeier would also attend a London meeting of donor nations who assist the Palestinian territories. Norway currently chairs that group.

It would not be a pledging meeting, but an opportunity to discuss strategies to improve world support the territories and target aid better, Peschke said. (dpa)
