Taiwan stocks plunge nearly 5 per cent
Taipei - Taiwan's benchmark stock index fell nearly 5 per cent Monday after stocks dropped on Wall Street Friday and the Taiwan government raised a cap on daily stock market fluctuations.
The Taiex fell 212.75 points, or 4.65 per cent, to close at 4,366.87.
The fall came one day after the government reverted the ceiling for daily share price falls to its original 7 per cent after imposing a
3.5-per-cent limit on October 13 to stabilize the stock market in the face of the global financial crisis. (dpa)
