Taito releases action puzzle game – Waterways – for iPhone and iPod TouchThe developer of video games, Taito Corporation and Dutch embassy in Japan have unleashed the action puzzle game – “Waterways” – for iPhone and iPod Touch devices. Taito has announced that Waterways is available through Apple’s App Store.

The “Waterways” has been developed by a Dutch studio named Rough Cookie, which develops games for high-end mobile phones. The “Waterways” has won the top honour as the best game concept, at the Netherlands-Japan GameJam 2008 Contest, the event that was sponsored by the Dutch NLGD Foundation and the Dutch Game Garden, and supported by The Dutch Foreign Ministry. The event was organized to commemorate the 50 years of diplomatic ties between The Netherlands and Japan.

The “Waterways” starts with the hi-fi water management system of the Netherlands, named Caretaker 3000 going haywire causing deluge in the adjacent areas. The players play the game as the heroic cow called Patch that helps to fix the flood problem by repairing the water system. The Patch navigates through the water-filled mazes and drawbridges to reach fast to plug and repair the leaking valves.

The “Waterways” becomes rather thrilling on the iPhone and iPod Touch devices, known for motion sensors, intuitive controls, and gaming interface respectively. It gets more intresting when players move the Patch using the touch screen and use the iPhone/iPod Touch’s accelerometer to control the water. The “Waterways” is available for $2.99 (€2.39) at the Apple App Store.
