Symantec’s new safety tools to help parents better manage online activities of kids

OnlineFamily.NortonWith Internet dangers ranking high on the ‘list of concerns’ for parents, Norton security software maker, Symantec Corp, now has help at hand! Symantec has launched a new family safety service, “OnlineFamily.Norton,” as well as a new online tool, “Norton 360 Cyber Safety Index” (Norton 360 CSI), in order to help parents better oversee the online activities of their kids.

The initiatives from Symantec reflect the company’s commitment towards not only increasing the awareness for online family safety, but also providing forceful communication-based tools that cater to effective management of online lifestyles.

The new Symantec service is for free till January 1 next year at onlinefamily.norton.com. The service is inclusive of features like - social network monitoring; search word logging; and real time messaging. These features can be used by kids, while trying to visit a site that has been blocked, for sending information to their parents in real-time, either via the service site or via email.

Meanwhile, Symantec’s new tool, the Norton 360 CSI, is available at norton360csi.com. The tool is an online survey that provides the parents with a better perception of the online risks of their families, and helps evaluating their protection levels. The online survey delivers an appropriate report, which identifies a family’s cyber safety index rating, and offers pertinent safety guidelines as per the risk profile.
