Advanced-Digital-BroadcastAdvanced Digital Broadcast, a Switzerland-based technology firm is set to bring in advanced technology into India to offer a set top box capable of converging content from any screen onto a TV.

The $360-million firm will offer hybrid set-top boxes that connect to television network, the broadband internet and other devices like computer, mobile etc allowing users to access all content on their TV screens.

The firm focuses on design, development and supply of products to digital television market around the world. ADB has big plans for India where market is set to grow. Many players recently launched Direct-To-Home (DTH) in India and the response from the people was good. This prompted ADB to increase its focus on the country.

The set-top-box depends on how well the software is connected to the user's existing infrastructure. New services being offered includes traditional TV broadcast along with internet and connectivity to other devices on the TV set.

ADB says that by innovation in software the cost of delivering quality services and deploying new technologies can be brought down. As the innovation can ensure that the new technologies run on the existing infrastructure.

Veronique Malan, VP, Strategic Marketing, ADB Global said "We expect content, not device, convergence to be a major theme in the coming years, particularly addressing how operators handle the inevitable interaction between TV, other consumer electronics devices and the internet."

She further said that the company working closely with DTH service providers in the country to bring in new technologies to deliver enhanced consumer experience.
