Swine flu gets hold of West Bengal MinisterSwine flu has also reached West Bengal and gets hold of West Bengal Minister, taking the total count of affected persons to 12 in the city.

State health department's nodal officer for swine flu Asit Biswas said that Nandagopal Bhattacharya, West Bengal Water Resources Minister has been diagnosed with the infection.

Bhattacharya's throat swab and soon after he shows the symptoms, he was rushed to the city clinic where he was admitted and brain haemorrhage, has tested positive, said by Health Minister Suryakanta Mishra.

The Minister's office in the State secretariat said that he was tested H1N1 Positive by the National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases.

The persons found infected throughout the state have been admitted to different hospitals including the State-run I D hospital at Beliaghata.

Mr. Biswas said that patients suffering from swine flu are kept in isolation war and one of them is stated to be critical.

Health department said that ID hospital has been accommodated with 100 bed isolation ward and it was investigated that none of the patients have visited any foreign country.

Last year, the state recorded 135 persons trapped with the disease but no deaths were recorded.
