Swine flu: 4 more dies in Pune, death toll rises to 31

PuneFour more persons succumbed to H1N1, raising the total number of swine flu fatalities in Pune to 31.

Ashok Ladda, joint director of the state health department, informed the media persons that a nine-month-old boy named Mohammad Mehboob Shaikh, admitted to the paediatric isolation ICU of Sassoon hospital on August 26 died in the wee hours on Sunday and a 15-month-old girl named Nikita Shendge in KEM hospital on the same day.

Vilas Padale (42) and Anil Nikam (26) succumbed to the virus at KEM hospital and Bharati hospital respectively on Sunday.

On Sunday, as many as 60 fresh H1N1 positive cases were reported in the state. Out of these 60, over 15 patients are undergoing treatment in a critical condition.

Notably, Pune is the worst hit city of H1N1 in the country with 31 deaths have been reported till now.
