Suzuki rolls out high-end bikes In India @ Rs 12.5 Lakh
Japanese major Suzuki Motor has launched two hyper sports bikes including Hayabusa and Intruder M1800R in the Indian market.
Suzuki expects that newly launched imported bikes would add more power to the company’s brand value and create excitement among Indian youngsters.
Both priced at Rs 12.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), Hayabusa features a 1,340-cc engine, whereas Intruder comes with a 1,783-cc V-twin engine.
Other exciting features of Hayabusa include a four-stroke, four cylinder and liquid-cooled DOHC (double overhead cam) engine, which has radial mount breaks in the front.
The bike that weighs 220 kg sports the new advanced digital fuel injection system with three way selectable engine mapping to suit personal preferences. Similarly, Intruder has a liquid cooled engine with DOHC and digital fuel injection.
While launching the bike, Suzuki Motorcycle India joint MD SMIPL Joint Managing Director Katsumi Takata stated, “This launch is in line with our aim to deliver outstanding technology and performance to the Indian market.”
The new Hayabusa and Intruder will be available in seven cities across India including all the metros.
Suzuki has set an objective of selling over 300 bikes during the year.
Mr. Atul Gupta, vice-president, sales and marketing, Suzuki Motorcycle India, said that the company had already got 28 bookings.
Suzuki plans to launch its GSX sports bike in the next six months, besides doubling the scooter production from the existing capacity of 10,000 units.
The company will also expand its production capacity to 2.5 lakh units per year by April 2009, from the current 1.7 lakh units with an additional investment of Rs 150 crore.
