Sutherland Global Services, accompany based in the US, is set to acquire Apollo Health Street Limited (AHS) in a deal valued at about Rs. 1,000 crore.

Sutherland Global Services, which is a international provider of business process and technology management services, will pay the whole acquisition amount in cash for the company. AHS is a leading provider of healthcare business services and world-class health information technology (HIT)-based solutions and is a unit of Apollo Hospitals Enterprises.

Dilip Vellodi, Founder Chairman & CEO of Sutherland Global Services said that the deal will be completed after the company receives approval from the regulators. He expects the transaction to complete in the month of February.

He said that Sutherland has been focusing on healthcare as a key sector and has made considerable investments over recent years. He said that the healthcare market is large in the US and some parts of Europe. The market is strong in the US due to aging population and due to the requirement of the government to provide universal healthcare.

Sutherland will be able to emerge as a leading healthcare service provider with comprehensive information technology and business process integrated solutions. The company will be establishing a strong presence in the healthcare outsourcing market.
