Surya Roshni to diversify into infrastructure sector New-Delhi-based Surya Roshni Ltd, a major lighting solution provider, has decided to diversify into infrastructure sector.

The company intends to set up a cement plant in Gujarat and a steel unit in Chhattisgarh.

According to a company official, who did not want to be identified, the company will spend nearly Rs 1100 crore on the establishment of cement plant in Kutch district of Gujarat, which is expected to commence its commercial production by 2012.

Recently, the company has signed MoU with the State Government at Raipur for the set up of a steel plant in Chhattisgarh.

Sources reported that the company is presently scouting for land, carrying out various studies, and tying up for technology.

Apart from latest development, Surya Roshni is planning to set up a spiral welded and steel pipe plant for oil and gas sector in Anjar taluk of Kutch district with an initial investment of Rs 200 crore.

The plant is expected to begin its commercial production in the current fiscal.
