Sun TV Network Ropes In Ajay Vidyasagar As COOKalanithi Maran-promoted television network Sun TV Network has roped in former Star India content and new media president Ajay Vidyasagar as its new chief operating officer (COO) with immediate effect.

This is the first time the country’s second biggest TV network has a COO on board.

Mr. Vidyasagar, who quit Star in March 2009, was responsible for advertisement sales and marketing for the company. He has more than twenty years experience in brand management as well as content creation.

He is credited with heading the launch of Kaun Banega Crorepati, part 2 and 3 in addition to Star’s new ideas that comprise the channel Star One and affiliations with brands such as ‘Disney’ and ‘Hungama’, merchandising and interactive media business.

He become part of ‘Star’ in 1996, and worked efficiently across a range of capacities to don several top executive positions within the company.

The South-Indian media group runs 20 satellite television channels in the four south Indian languages comprising Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

At present, it airs 42 FM radio stations in India.

Sun TV Network operates 20 television channels in the four south Indian languages, apart from 42 FM stations across the country.

In 2008, the South-Indian media group made entry into film production and distribution. It has distributed eight Kollywood films up till now.

Now, it is involved in the production of Rajnikanth-Aishwarya Rai starrer ‘Endhiran’, the budget of which is expected to cross Rs 100 crore.
