Kabul  - Suicide attack in Afghanistan kills, wounds more than 20 peopleA suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden vehicle into a convoy of police vehicles in south-western Afghanistan on Thursday morning, killing or wounding more than 20 people, including some police personnel, a police official said.

The attack took place in the main market of Del Aram district in Farah province, which is close to border with Iran, Khalilullah Rahmani, the provincial police chief, said.

"Our initial information says that more than 20 people, including police forces were either killed or wounded in this attack," Rahmani told Deutsch Presse-Agentur dpa by phone.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the Thursday's deadly attack. However, Taliban militants in the past have carried out hundreds of such attack since the ouster of their regime in late 2001. (dpa)
