Struggling Zynga banking heavily on “FarmVille 2” for revival With the online games company Zynga currently struggling with slowed revenue growth and sharp plunges in stock prices, the company is now banking heavily on its new, Wednesday-released "FarmVille 2" title for its revival.

Zynga has been out of luck of late. Even though the company's original "FarmVille" game - the 2009-launched clicking game that involved virtual cows and real money - witnessed outrageous popularity at one time, the advent of the Apple iPad and the increasing use of smartphones spoiled everything for it --- with fewer and fewer gamers playing Zynga's games on PCs as well as Facebook.

As a result of the disheartening turnaround, Zynga is now betting on the new "FarmVille 2" game - the notably improved "FarmVille" sequel - for its resurgence. The new title is a complete revamp of the game's basic, addictive, yet largely-derided online offering; and it now boasts abundant 3-D graphics rather than the earlier two-dimensional figures.

Moreover, "FarmVille 2" features another new aspect, which chiefly promotes collaboration instead of competition among the gamers --- thanks to their ability of interacting with the adorable cartoon animals rather than merely "harvesting" them with never-ending clicks for acquiring coins.

Noting that the overhauled gameplay and the soothing soundtrack, chiefly comprising nature sounds, will evoke relaxation and nostalgia in the gamers, Wright Bagwell - FarmVille 2's director of design - said about the new game: "You are trying to bring an old family farm back into glory."
