Strauss Sails England To 364/6 On First Day
England skipper Andrew Strauss scored an unbeaten ton as England finished the first day of the second test match of the Ashes series against Australia at 364 runs with loss of six wickets at the Lords on Thursday.
England elected to field first after winning the toss and Strauss (161 not out) and A Cook (95) scored a partnership of 196 runs for the first wicket before Cook retuned to pavilion.
But Australian bowler brought their team back in the game with taking five more wickets with 168 runs more added in the score board, while Strauss continued his awesome inning in which he smashed 22 boundaries.
B Hilfenhaus and M Johnson took two wickets each, while P Siddle took priceless wicket of Kevin Petersen (32). The part time spinner M Clarke also took one wicket.
