London, Feb. 7 : Former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan has warned incumbent Andrew Strauss that his decision not to accompany the team to Dubai and Bangladesh is a mistake.

Vaughan is the latest to criticise Strauss for handing over the reins to Essex opener Alastair Cook, the others being ex-skippers Nasser Hussain and Michael Atherton.

Former Ashes winner Vaughan, who quit the captaincy in tears in 2008, reckons Strauss will struggle to sit on the sidelines.

He said: "Captaining England is definitely a 24/7 job. I''d be amazed if Andrew isn''t thinking about the captaincy every day over the next three months. How will he feel sitting at home when England walk out at Chittagong? I wouldn''t have felt comfortable with that. Looking at the schedule throughout the summer, he''s going to be tired any way."

Hussain, Vaughan''s predecessor as captain, has been among the most vocal critics of Strauss'' decision.

But Vaughan insists it''s unfair to compare eras. He said: "I remember seeing Nasser in tears after he''d been criticised by a couple of ex-players on TV.

"At the time I didn''t understand why it bothered him but by the time I''d come to the end of the captaincy I definitely did. It''s tougher mentally now." (ANI)
