Indian Stock markets bounced back in the afternoon session after a weak start, however could not sustain the gains till the end of trading session. Among major gainers in today's trading session were Unitech, DLF Limited, Siemens, Reliance Communications and IDEA Cellular.

Real Estate major Unitech managed to close with a gain of over 5%. The stock was trading strong in the early trades but drifted into negatives zone around 11.30 a.m. Another real estate major DLF Limited closed with a gain of over 4%.

Banking stocks were among major losers in today's trading session. Private-sector banks including ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank were among major losers.  HDFC Bank was down by over 3.5%.  SBI and Axis Bank were also down quite substantially by the end of the trading session.

Pharmaceutical counters were trading strong today. Ranbaxy Laboratories, Dr Reddy’S Lab and Cipla were trading higher compared to yesterday's close.

Most active counters in today's trade were Reliance Natural Resources, Reliance Petroleum, Orchid Chemicals, IFCI and Essar Oil.
