SRK’s Bungalow ‘Mannat’ In Trouble
It seems that the king of Bollywood Sharukh Khan, is becoming quite a favorite child of controversy. Earlier, it was his fight with Sallu Bhai and case filed against his movie Om Shanti Om, and now over his bungalow Mannat, against which the Bombay High court has issued a notice declaring that there had been illegal construction in the bungalow, located at suburban Bandra.
The state government and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) were asked to clarify the grounds on which they allowed the construction by the division bench, consisting of Chief Justice Sawtantra Kumar and Justice A P Deshpande.
There had been many complaints regarding SRK’s house in the past too, and this time the notice was issued as a response to a petition claiming that while constructing Mannat, 32 norms were violated.
Reportedly there is a seven storey building in the backyard of the bungalow that has stuck in the eyes of the authorities. Amit Maro, a Mumbai- based social worker, filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in August in the High Court against this illegal construction.
SRK is also being blamed for having violated the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) Notification, 1991, for he has got his land classified under lenient CRZ-I, when it was in the highly restrictive CRZ-II classification.
The statutory Heritage Regulations, which instructs that the height of the new building should be same as of the old building and also that the new building should have a harmonious architectural attributes of the old one, has also been reported to be violated.
